Time Out

Apart from this entry, I have done nothing with Rails™ this weekend. Unless lying awake in a hotel room in North York for 3 hours last night, thinking about airships and aeroplanes (Transport Canada spelling) counts. The connection with Rails™? Airplanes are expensive. Even Advanced Ultralights are out of my current budget range. So I need a project that has a good chance of being wildly successful and make lots of money. It won't be in Lotus Notes. I tried that more than once, it hasn't worked yet. Or at a minimum, get some development contracts that pay well for the next couple of years. So that's where Rails™ enters the picture.

So why was I lying awake in a hotel room in North York (instead of at home)? Friday evening I was at my first professional football game. It was the Toronto Argonauts against the Montreal Alouettes. Jayne had tickets for the Wendy's Kick for a Million contest. Dave Thompson didn't make the 50-yard kick, but he went home with some consolation prizes. We went home with ringing ears at half-time after the kick. Then Saturday afternoon we headed back downtown to pick up Jayne's race kit and check into the Novotel at Mel Lastman Square. Jayne ran the Toronto Marathon (half) this morning. Since it started at 8am, we stayed in town to save the 5am drive into the city. She came in at 2:21, a time I can only look at with amazement. I haven't yet broken the half-hour mark in 5km, let alone manage 21! I like to think that I have similar dedication to other projects though, like this one.
