OK, I guess it's time to take a significant step and put my name out there as a Rails Developer. Google still hasn't indexed this site, but I expect that will happen within a few days. In anticipation of that happy event, I decided to create an account at http://www.workingwithrails.com. Perhaps that exposure will get a me a paying gig that will push me to the next level of knowledge and expertise. Pushing outside the comfort zone is always scary!
On a somewhat related subject, I received my slides back from Norm Aleks at IBM1130.org. He scanned them and burned a DVD for me. In the interim I found a Minolta Dimage F2900 slide and film scanner on eBay, which is now waiting to be attached to a computer and checked out. I don't have the necessary SCSI cable, so that project will have to wait. Once that's all working, I have hundreds of films and slides to be scanned.... a long-term project right up there with recording my several hundred vinyl LPs!
While I was in Mexico, the bug report I filed on the window placement in NetBeans has been making its way through the system. The person assigned to review it has not been able to reproduce the bug, whereas I get it every time. I installed NetBeans 6 Beta 2 this morning, I still have the same problem. It's not a major issue, but it is annoying to have to move the ancillary windows on startup each time. Now, on to find the new features in Beta 2.
