Tomorrow morning I'm off to Lotusphere. It's my third time at the annual Lotus love-in. The first year I went as a fully-registered attender, last year and this as an exhibitor on behalf of iEnterprises. It's a pretty intense few days, but I'm also taking some time to just enjoy myself. Jayne is coming with me for the weekend, and she's taking me out tomorrow evening for my birthday. I'm sure she has something memorable planned!
This past week has been a flurry of activity. Some has been regular work, but quite a bit has been clearing stuff up in preparation for being away for a week. I started a new customisation project this week, which will keep me busy for a while once I get back. It turns out my main contact at this new client shares some of my avocational interests, so we have lots of non-project things to talk about.
I had lunch today with an associate who's working on a very interesting project. It involves a company with a wide variety of needs, ranging from inventory control, to time management, to project planning, to transport logistics. They currently manage everything by paper and fax. One particular aspect would lend itself very well to a Rails solution. This is the kind of exciting project I've been looking for!
