Violin progress

NeckRibsForm500.jpg

Because of various minor projects taking up time, I have not done any work on the violin in a few weeks. This past Wednesday, I finally got back to it. I sanded down the corner blocks and laid out the neck. The ribs are also trimmed to the correct width, so this coming week I will bend them and glue them onto the blocks. Hopefully I'll also have time to cut the neck out and drill the peg holes.

One of the other projects I've been working on is the next set of LED lamps. This time I'm making 4. Two are white, the others RGB. The bases for these will be of Oak, and made as boxes rather than a single chunk of wood. I did a resin cast of two of them, but it didn't work out the way I hoped. I did get an interesting effect with the RGB version, one which I will try to build on at some point. But for now, I just want to get these done and listed on Etsy.

Totally unrelated, the registration for notes-on-rails.com will expire in September. I don't think I'll renew it, so I'm moving this blog to the federer.ca site as a branch from the main menu.
