This past weekend (Saturday) we held a little party for my mom and sister. My mom turned 85 last June, and Anne also had a significant birthday in April. Neither of them wanted a fuss made, so we just invited our closest aunts, uncles and cousins.
Saturday was a perfect-weather day. We had the party in the back yard, as Anne brought her dog Aiko, and our cat Joule doesn't get along well with other animals. My other sister Kate was visiting from Burnaby, so we had all the immediate family here. The look on my mom's face as she came around the corner and realised who was here, made it all worthwhile.
